Posted on by Pat in How to Get Better Grades | No Comments

Posted on by Pat in How to Get Better Grades | No Comments

Home schooling is preferred by some parents. Some parents want to make sure that their child is getting all the schooling needed even though he is staying and learning at home instead of learning inside the classroom. They believe that they are able to control the curriculum better. Moreover, they want to impart their own values that are necessary in molding a child. They are also focused on teaching deeper subjects that they believe are significant to his learning. There is also a belief that they can slow down when the child is having difficulty and spend more time on these subjects. In this way, the child has a better chance of learning the harder lessons. You can be there to guide your child in some topics and issues that could be easily misinterpreted when explained in school by teachers or other classmates. Teaching reading to your child

Posted on by Pat in How to Get Better Grades | No Comments

One of the most effective teaching methods for children is to use materials that the child has a natural interest in. Teaching reading to your child is no exception. Our kids (as I’m sure most kids) have a natural interest in animals. Right from the beginning we had great success using their natural curiosity and affection for animals to teach the basic formations and sounds that are associated with the letters and pictures. This naturally progressed into using the same to aid in teaching reading to them as well. There are several children’s magazines available for you that are dedicated to the animal child connection. As our kids got a bit older we even subscribed to a couple of the magazines for them. You talk about generating an interest! Just wait till the kids realize that every so often the mailman brings them a present. They couldn’t wait and it …

Study Tips for Test Taking Students

Posted on by Pat in How to Get Better Grades | No Comments

You’re in the thick of the school year. It seems like there are so many things going on, like assignments, projects, and extracurricular activities. Now a test is coming up and you’ve got to do well on it. How should you study so you do better on that test? First of all, when you study for a test, you shouldn’t be learning something completely new. It is faster and easier to recall something you have already learned than to learn something completely new. After each day of classes, it is a good idea to review everything you have learned. It doesn’t have to be a long review either. Simply jog through the day’s topics. That way, you give your brain another chance to soak up the information. Hopefully, this review will make future studying less time consuming and less of a learning process. Where you study is important. Find a …

By following these twelve tips, you will be guaranteed to get straight AAAAA’s. Read each tip carefully. 1. Find a quiet area in your house in which you are comfortable and can isolate yourself from distractions. Be sure that this space includes a chair, table or desk, and sufficient lighting. Ask others not to disturb you while you are in this special location and turn off all phones, beepers, televisions, videos, music, or anything else that your mind will wander to instead of focusing on the schoolwork. 2. Find the best time to study. Some students tend to do their best work as soon as they get home from school while they are still in the school mode. Others need a break and don’t settle down to study until after practice, playtime, a nap, dinner and/or family time. Just be sure to allow yourself enough time to get everything done …
